Sad Tragedy in the Ring
In Shocking News, Japanese wrestling Legend Mitsuharu Misawa died in the ring on Saturday night, in Hiroshima.
The initial reports were that he suffered a heart attack after a back suplex. However, recently it is said that he suffered a spinal cord injury and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to the hospital.
In what was a bizarre scene that was captured on video and posted on YouTube (but quickly taken down). Here is an updated link, watch it while you can.
CPR was administered in the ring before he was taken off in an ambulance.
Misawa is one of the most famous wrestlers in Japanese history. His career started as the famous Tiger Mask and eventually went on to own Pro Wrestling NOAH.
More Details as they become available.
Why Umaga was released…and more to come.

After initially posting a standard “parting ways” statement on WWE.com yesterday. World Wrestling Entertainment added:
As reported on WWE.com on Monday, June 8, 2009, WWE Superstar Umaga (Edward Fatu) has been released from his World Wrestling Entertainment contract. However, consistent with the practice of announcing wellness policy violations, it should be noted that Umaga’s termination was due to his second violation of the WWE Wellness Program and his subsequent refusal to attend a rehabilitation facility.
So let me understand this, the WWE told Umaga go to rehab or you’re fired. Something doesn’t seem right, maybe Umaga wanted out of his contract because his decision seemed like a no-brainer.
There are also rumors floating around the internet that there are more that recently failed the Wellness Program. Those names could possibly be released by the end of the week or early next week.
Umaga RELEASED!

From WWE.com
World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of SmackDown Superstar Umaga as of today, June 8, 2009. WWE wishes Umaga the best in all future endeavors.

U-MA-GONE!
This isn’t that surprising as Umaga has had a pretty good run in the WWE. He won a couple of titles, was a main part of Wrestlemania 23, and made a lot of “good guys” look better.
I’m a little shock that they didn’t just take him off of TV and bring him back later as a face or just completely repackage him. But I guess they felt there was nothing left to do with him!
SAMOA!
